Deanna Walsh M.S. CCC-SLP

Deanna has been working as a Speech-Language Pathologist since 2006. She is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM), as well as a 3-time recipient of the ACE award from the ASHA. She has many years of experience treating speech, language, oral motor, and related disorders in children and young adults, including those with a variety of medical diagnoses and complex histories (e.g. Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and other neuro-motor deficits). Deanna uses a whole-body, whole-person approach to therapy, since she understands that all systems are integrated and do not function alone. She now specializes in orofacial myofunctional therapy, feeding therapy, and speech sound production (including Apraxia, Dysarthria, and more). Specialized training includes, but is not limited to, the DIR/Floortime model of therapy, feeding and swallowing from infancy through childhood, SOS Approach to feeding, picky eating/problem feeding, aquatic therapy, kinesiology taping, oral placement therapy, assessment and remediation of tethered oral tissues (tongue and lip ties), myofascial release for dysphagia, orofacial myofunctional disorders, and oral sensory-motor development for feeding and speech. She places high value on using a team approach to patient care whenever possible, which means she is frequently collaborating with dentists, orthodontists, otolaryngologists (ENTs), chiropractors, osteopaths, lactation specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and others.
